I’m trying to learn how to code (again). My buddy Trevor talked me in to reading this book by Chris Pine and it’s really good so far. My first task is to recreate ClickThatButton with my own code. I got a very very basic version working in Ruby and had to share. I was too excited.
It’s always a good thing to learn programming, well done!
I’m a self taught programmer too, I only know php and javascript, in those languages you can simply write “number++” and it’s gonna add 1 to the variable named “number”, I think it should work on ruby too, so give it a try, in the long run it’s going to save you a looot of characters!
Hey,
I’m not sure if you’ve heard about codeyear.com by the code academy.
I’m learning to program too. I work in VFX so there are always people around me typing code like facebook updates. I’m a matte painter so more comfortable with a photoshop brush than a variable but codeyear seems AWESOME – AND ITS FREE.
Hey!
I think it’s always good to know a bit more about coding…I am a student so I was really excited too when we started programming, just basics, but was like Wow!…and yep everything by codecademy is a good source of practice. Lucky with variables!
Nick I find myself in the same boat. Why Ruby, though, vs. Objective C? Can anyone comment? Is the book general enough in nature to help learn all?
If you want to learn javascript check out: http://www.codecademy.com/
Really great site that gives you a weekly goal of coding!
